July 2019 Tarot Reading

Hello, and welcome! Can you believe we’re halfway through the year already? I certainly hope it’s been positive and abundant for you thus far. We were in the depths of winter not that long ago, and now the days are warm if not outright hot. On this particular Sunday, the last day of June, we are grateful to be having gorgeous weather here in Syracuse. Here’s what’s coming up for us in July.

I pulled four cards this month: the King of Pentacles, the Eight of Swords, the Five of Cups, and the King of Wands. We start and end the month with very strong, positive energy, which will help stabilize us during any wobbles we may encounter along the way.

The King of Pentacles is a master of the material realm. Anything related to earthly success, such as money and possessions, falls under this king’s purview. You feel on top of the world, in control, and life is good. Success begets more success, and your confidence during this time will help usher in further wins as the month goes on. Remember that we are inherently abundant and always have access to what we need; we just sometimes forget that when things aren’t going our way. The King of Pentacles energy will make remembering this very easy for us as the month of July begins.

I’m going to discuss the Eight of Swords and the Five of Cups together, since their energies are interwoven. The suit of swords represents thoughts, and the lady depicted on the Eight of Swords is bound and blindfolded, indicating that she’s being held captive. Don’t become a prisoner to your thoughts. There may be something that’s troubling you, but continuing to worry and ruminate about it is going to keep you frozen and stuck. On the Five of Cups, a man has two cups which are upright and three cups that have spilled. The man is focused on the spilled cups, ignoring the ones that are still upright. The disappointment the man feels is increased by only focusing on what’s lost. Change your focus to what you do have, because what remains is good, solid, and worthy of gratitude. During the middle of the month you may be feeling isolated, unhappy, and tempted to hide away. While it’s okay to take some time to regroup, it’s important to make time to stay connected with people that have positive energy and will be supportive and caring towards you. Whatever’s going on that has you feeling down will soon pass. Being aware of all the goodness that exists in your life, despite this minor setback, will free you from feeling trapped and disempowered.

We end the month with the King of Wands. This king is a master of energy and movement. It’s a great time to tune into your passions and make sure you’re giving them the attention they deserve, because fueling your passions will also fuel your energy. This is also an excellent time for new business and work opportunities, and it will involve something that excites you. Your energy will be bountiful, giving you the drive to pursue goals that will benefit you and those around you.

To summarize, the month of July is bookended by two kings - masters of the earth plane and of energy. That is a wonderful combination, because we need to be in control of our energy in order to create what we want in the material world. These energies together will enable us to stand in our power and create something positive that is grounded in reality. The swords and cups cards in the middle of the month remind us that life doesn’t always go the way we’d like, but if we remain grateful and don't allow ourselves to be held hostage by negative thinking, we can move through these moments with grace and peace until life returns to calmer waters.
